Announcing Year 2010 – 2011 Events and Programs:

First, the good news: we received a $2,000 Math Circle Mini-Grand from Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in supporting our program.  We will use the money for three initiatives:

  • Santa Ana Math Circle:  We will host classes for Santa Ana students starting October.  The Santa Ana School District has agreed to support OCMC classes and coordinate with the elementary and intermediate schools in the District.  We will meet once a month and have three classes, teaching grades 4 through 8.  The District will also provide materials and classrooms at Lathrop Intermediate School for the students.  We will need 4-6 Council members for each class.
  • Mock Exams and Lectures: We will provide monthly mock exams to help students prepare for upcoming math competitions (three AMC 8, two AMC 10, and three Math Field Day lessons).  Each month, we need 2 – 3 Student Council members to teach the class.
  • Tournaments: We will continue to offer the Thanksgiving Tournament, New Year Invitational, and All-Girls Math Tournament.  If you are interested in serving as a tournament director, please contact Alex at cuberalex@mac.com.

Student Council Meeting Times:

The schedule of all events is available on our Calendar.  Our first meeting for 2011-2012 is 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2011. Contact Alex at cuberalex@mac.com for more information.
